Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina was the first to debut her sly rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a comical wit before increasing her appeal to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants, was her initial musical experience. She was a trumpeter. After that, she took traditional and hip-hop training. When she was in college, she was focusing on her studies, majoring in women's and journalism. For a brief period during which she lived in Beijing as well, she was also studying Mandarin. Following graduation, she decided to concentrate on music. In 2012 her track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet before settling on her debut album Yellow Ranger in 2014. It also contained popular hits that went viral, such as body-positive Queef or winking hometown tour New York Bitche$. The latter track connected directly to her other venture, Awkwafina's NYC a travel guide published in 2015. Once she had established herself as a singer and author who wrote books, she chose to assume acting roles. Along with the early TV shows such as Girl Code, Tawk and Bad Rap she also appeared in film projects like Neighbors to Storks. In 2018, she scored breakthrough role in a few notable films, including Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. Her debut EP,"At Fina We Trust in June of the same year.
